Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers, is an online course designed to  familiarize students with the six different parts of the ASME CSD-1 Standard as they pertain to general requirements, testing and maintenance, electrical, steam and waterside controls, and combustion side controls. An understanding of this Standard will enable individuals to quickly locate appropriate code sections when in the field.

Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:  

  • Describe the focus of each Part of the CSD-1 Standard.
  • Explain the importance of proper boiler inspection and of using the ASME CSD-1 National Standard.
  • Explain how following the requirements of CSD-1 can lower the risk of boiler incidents.
  • Find pertinent requirements in CSD-1 for assembly, installation, maintenance, inspection, and operation of controls and safety devices.
